gongbi style

When we travel abroad, we always experience new and exciting things, don’t we? Like other cultures, new scents and tastes of food we didn’t know or different languages and customs.
We love that and are always on the lookout for inspiration to integrate into our designs and collections!

Take this Asian design, for example. The beautiful branches with blossoms, leaves and small songbirds are inspired by the classical Chinese silk paintings and Art in gongbi style. This style often included colourful bird and flower paintings and narrative themes, which were executed with precise brushstrokes, fine dark lines and coloured elements.

The colours are bright and it almost looks like a pattern a pattern as it was used on folding screens, silk drapery or wall paintings from the various imperial dynasties.
